So I'm still alive. I'm in my 4th week of grad school and I love it though it's killing me slowly. This week we have midterms. Today (Monday) I had my Neuro lab practical (50 identification questions and 50 fill-in-the-blank function questions). Tomorrow I have my Anatomy lecture exam and right after that I have my Anatomy lab practical. Finally, Wednesday I have my Neuro lecture exam (which is the exam that's freaking me out). After class that day, me and a bunch of the other PTers are going to The Patio to have a couple drinks and drown our sorrows.

Anyway, like my title states, I've joined the club. What club, you ask? Well about 9 days ago, I visited Dayton, OH and while I was down there I visited the Fairborn Deja Vu Tattoo parlor and got inked. Yep, that's right. I got a tattoo. It's kinda cool actually. $75 got me a black, white, and gray Chinese symbol that means "Chess" on my foot. I like it a lot, but I'm sticking to just one tattoo, I don't care how addicting they are. It hurt like a bitch.

I don't think anything else is new. Just doing the school thing. I don't have a job, which is nice but at the same time I don't have any income either. I may have to go back to getting a weekly allowance. Boo! I need a job, but for now I literally have no time. I go to class, come home and hide in my room to study. Every now and then I find time to lay out and catch some rays, but really I don't do much of anything during the week. I'm looking forward to this weekend because I've decided I'm doing absolutely nothing. I've been working my ass off, I'm taking a break for a day or two.

I've been getting back into running lately too. I haven't been able to for a while because of the tendinitis in my foot (which made me quit soccer). I'm hoping by this time next summer I can do a 5k or something longer with a decent time. Really I'm working up to being able to play indoor soccer by this winter, as well. My cousin said she's friends with a woman who has a team that plays competitively and they're always looking for players. I'm ready again, I miss that sport. I also may be playing in the Spring softball league with my cousin next Spring. She plays for the '86 alumni team that has won 11 times so that should be good for me!

If anyone ever wants to do anything, just let me know. I'm up for it when I have the time...and I have catching up to do with a lot of you. Take care all and have a great summer!

Smiling ~ Britt

Back In Town

Hey everyone. Once again, I promised to keep updating you guys on my life and now it's been well over two months since my last post. I'm hoping now that I'm back in Columbus, I'll be able to keep tabs on you all better and I'll be able to fill you in on my life better.

So, yes, I am back home. On Tuesday morning, I packed up my stuff in Beavercreek (Dayton), OH and moved back in with my 'rents in good ol' Grove City. I've yet to unpack because we are currently doing some renovations in the Chesser household. My room (my brother's old room) needs some work done on it before I can move in to it, and frankly, I don't feel like getting settled in my old room if I'll just be moving out of it.

On Wednesday, me and a couple of my friends from WSU, who also got into OSU's PT program, went to OSU's campus to take care of a few things. We got our BuckIDs and parking passes along with checking out where our classes will be and buying our books and supplies. That was a nice $360 trip to campus. Cheaper than I expected though. Before class begins on Monday, June 18th, we have two chapters that have to be read out of our The Human Brain book for Neuro. I'm hoping to read each chapter twice before I start school. I have a feeling I'm going to be completely different at OSU. Since I actually need to know this stuff, I'll probably not have a life outside of it. Not much at least.

Yesterady, I got to go shopping with my dad's credit card (Capital One, what's in your wallet...my dad's card, that's what). Always fun. I had to find a dress for graduation, which didn't happen. I'm just not a dress or skirt type of person. So I ended up at Express and I bought The Editor style bermuda dress shorts in a light gray color. Then I have a nice dressy, black tank top and black high heel shoes. It's very classy looking, but I guarantee I'll be one of the only girls, if not the only girl, not wearing a dress or skirt. Trendsetter.

Tomorrow, June 9th, I will be graduating from Wright State University with the rest of the Class of 2007. The rest of the day will be spent partying it up with my friends from school and hoping that we have a good enough bond that we'll actually keep in touch. But I'm not getting my hopes up, things change, people change, whatever. Much celebration going on tomorrow, especially after the quarter we just finished with. Thank God we're done...for now.

Then Sunday, me and some of my friends from work (on WSU's campus) are going to King's Island for the day. I haven't been there in like 10 years, so it should be a blast. I'll be sure to get on here and let you all know how that goes. A lot's been going on and a ton has been changing, so I'll let you know how that goes and everything.

Glad to be back people and I hope to see some of you around when I'm not working my life away.

Smiling ~ Britt

[edit:] So I stand corrected. There were a ton of girls wearing pants at graduation...but my dress shorts were by far the cutest. And King's Island was a lot of fun. I will definitely go back sometime.

Ohio State Allied Medicine

Well, it's been a while since I've updated (yet again). Anyway, I'll just come right out and say it, I am officially a Buckeye. I have been accepted into the DPT program at Ohio State and I couldn't be more excited about it. Come June, I'll be moving back in to my parent's house in Grove City and hopefully reconnecting with the locals. About 300 people applied to the PT program and only 40 were accepted, so I guess that's something to be proud of.

Going along with that, this is my last quarter at Wright State (wrong college). I'm taking the last exercise biology courses here and then I'm taking Biology 115, Evolution & Diversity. Yes, it's a freshman course. I put it off for so long because I heard the professor was a flippo. I didn't feel like adding another B or C to my transcript before applying to OSU. Now that I've been accepted (and I have to take it to graduate), I just no longer care. "C's get degrees." Graduation is June 9th and I start at OSU on June 18th. Only a week, but I guess I'll still be in school-mode so it will be okay. I won't be playing in the alumni softball tournament this year either because my best pal Melissa (another EXB major at WSU, she's going to UD for PT school) is getting married on July 28th (the same weekend as the tournament) and I'm a bridesmaid. I'm happy for her!

I'm trying to think of what else is going on right now. Not too much, I guess. I don't have much to worry about right now, which is weird. I think I'm worrying more about not having anything to worry about. Just going to get through this quarter, graduate and then I'll finally be doing what I've wanted to do for as long as I could remember. This weekend I think I'm going to go to campus and buy some Ohio State gear.

You all take care! Hopefully I'll be able to catch up with all of you soon.

Smiling! ~ Britt

"Her face is a map of the world,
is a map of the world.
You can see she's a beautiful girl,
she's a beautiful girl.
And everything around her is a silver pool of light,
the people who surround her feel the benefit of it,
it makes you calm,
she holds you captivated in her palm.

Suddenly I see
this is what I wanna be,
suddenly I see
why the hell it means so much to me."

~KT Tunstall I also know the last time I wrote a blog entry I said I'd try to keep up with it better. Yea, I didn't mean to lie. I'll work on it again. Seriously.

Anyway, I was just writing to let you all know...well if anyone reads this anymore...that I have officially been accepted into the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Dayton! Yea, it's not my #1 choice, but I won't be hearing from OSU until February and it's nice to know that at least I'll be going somewhere next year. It's weird when your dreams and career aspirations actually start to fall into place. Keep your fingers crossed for OSU.

The last post, as you can see, I was struggling a bit with where I wanted to end up. It would be nice to go to UD with the 8 other WSU students that have been accepted into that program, but OSU is here in C-bus. My roots and an awesome city (compared to Dayton). Hopefully, if and when I move back I'll be able to reconnect with you guys, Asa especially. I miss my best pal.

Besides, I've recently found out that there are some girls that I used to play soccer with who want to go to OSU's PT school. There's also a girl named Sarah from WSU and a guy named Bobby who want to go there with me, so I'll walk in with friends, I hope. Good luck to all of them as well.

Well, now you know. Wish me luck and like I said, I will try to keep better tabs on this website.

Smiling ~ Britt

The Flyers vs. The Buckeyes

So I'm currently torn between graduate schools. I know OSU has always been my dream, but last night I had a good talk with my buddy Shane. He's in the Exercise Biology program like I am and he works at a physical therapy office down the street from University of Dayton. His boss is UD's Physical Therapy Director, Dr. Phil.

You see, me, Melissa, Shane, Justin, Kris, Sarah, and Kendra have all grown fairly close to each other over the past year. I'm currently on a flag football team with Justin and Shane and last night I hung out with Shane at his place with his roommate Dustin. Last night we got to talking about where we'll be in a year. He's all about UD and I've been all about OSU, but I haven't been hearing amazing thinks about OSU like I have with UD. Apparently, OSU is more of a research program. UD focuses on succeeding as a physical therapist, not prep work for research. The downfall is that I'd be stuck in Dayton for another 3 years. The upside is that I'd be with 5-7 of my buddies from WSU and it would be a less intimidating, comfortable environment for me to be with them. Another downfall, UD is about $60,000 total for the duration I'd be there. OSU is half that. Another upside, UD has an amazing curriculum setup. I've been impressed with what I've seen from them so far.

Anyway, the reason I've been at a crossroads with this decision is because Shane gave me another helpful bit of information. UD has invited about 25 prospective students to a group interview on December 18th. The 25 students that have been invited are the students that Dr. Phil wants in next year's new class. We are his first choice. The weird thing is, Shane, Justin, Kendra, Sarah, Bobby (another guy here at WSU with us), and I have all gotten invites to this interview session. We're currently waiting to find out if Kris and Melissa will get theirs. But, that means that we are in the top 25 of students that they want, which means that unless we screw up somehow in the interview, we're in. All of us. Together. How friggin' cool would that be?

I just don't know what to do. So I'm hoping that I'll get accepted into one of the two schools that I've applied to only, making my decision really easy. If I get accepted into both I may have to lay low for a while and think really hard about where I want to be. *sigh* Melissa says that if this is the toughest decision I have to make, I have it pretty easy. The only other questions which would remain if I chose UD is 1) would I live at home in C-bus and commute? 2) What about Michael J? 3) Should I just move to Dayton all together? and 4) What about Michael J? (Yes, I know I said that twice, but it's a hard choice. Does he come with me, does he stay in C-bus, will the wedding be post-poned even more?) Tough.

Well, I just had to get some of that off my mind for now. I'm stuck here at work till 7 and I'm pissed because I wanted to watch Shane, Dustin, Roy, and Justin play for the guys' flag football team. I can barely see the field from where I'm at. I want so badly to be out there on the sidelines rooting them on. UGH!

Oh yea, one more thing. Last week I had three exams (remember?). The physiology exam turned out to be a 82.5% (which is a high B since an A is 85%). The essay exam for Clinical Exercise Physiology was handed back today and I got an 87%. And my Economics exam turned out to be a 91%. Guess I did all that freaking out and worrying for nothing. Things always fall into place. Maybe all I need is a sign that tells me where I should be next year. That sign needs to come in the form of one acceptance letter and one rejection letter.

Still smiling ~ Britt

Brittany Returns!

Hey folks! So, I haven't visited (or really thought about) xanga since the end of Spring quarter last year. This summer was just so damn hectic with work, summer school, and studying for the GRE. I will say, things are falling into place now, though I won't know that for sure until December or January.

Quick recap:

-Michael and I got engaged during my last weekend here at school in the spring. We have not yet set a date, but it looks like it will be in 2008 sometime after my first year of grad school (wherever that may be) and once he's been hired onto Columbus Police Department.

-I took the GRE and did decent. I have officially applied to both UD and OSU, though I still have a couple more things to send to UD before they have all my stuff on file. Basically I can only sit back and relax until I hear back from OSU in December or January about my acceptance. UD, on the other hand, has already reviewed what they have received from me and I've been formally asked to interview with them on December 18th. I will be calling them tomorrow to confirm my appearance there on that day.

-I am back at WSU for my last year here. It's been a rough 3 weeks so far and this upcoming 4th week, starting tomorrow (Monday) contains 3 lovely examinations. I've been studying my ass off for my Physiology exam and so far I think I've learned (LEARNED, no memorized) more in the past 3 weeks than ever before. Let's just say, I think I know my shit right now. Whether I choke on the first exam or not is what we're waiting to see.

-Finally, I am officially, well sorda, a student athlete again. I have been roped into joining a flag football team. It's an intramural sport, but it's so much more work than I thought. I'm playing with a couple guys from my EXB major and they're a hoot. We had a scrimmage last Wednesday and I caught 1 pass and I blitzed the quarterback on the other team. Seems uneventful to someone else, but I had fun and I was definitely sore the next day.

Not much else is going on. Just trying to survive the quarter. Excited about winter break coming up since I should be doing my internship at that time and it will be time for acceptance/rejection letters from the two grad schools I've applied to. Wish me luck! You all take care and I'll try to post more often again. No...really, I will! Have a little faith in me!

Smiling! ~ Britt

P.S. I'm hoping that the flag football team will relieve a bit of my anxiety and stress. I'm driving myself into the ground mentally. I'm sure that's no surprise to all of you. I thought senior year would be a breeze, it turns out that it's crazier than ever. But, apparently if we make it to the championship game, we play on the soccer field under the lights (it's been 3 years since I've been on that field). Root for the Wolfpack!

[Edit:] Okay, so this week is turning out pretty great. Last night (Monday) I had my first real Flag Football game. We, of course, won, but it wasn't even competitive. The final score? 56-0. Ouch for the other team! Then, this morning I took my first exam of the quarter for Physiology. I got an 83.5% on it which is only 1.5% away from an A (since an A is 85%). I studied my ass off for it and it paid off. Thank god!

Finally...Summer!

Well, it hasn't been too long since I posted last. School ended fine. I did pass BIO212, you all know how worried I was about screwing that class up early on. If I had done better on the first exam, I could have gotten a B in the class. Anyway, this is how my grades turned out:

Molecular Biology (212) = C (meh!)

Organic Chemistry (213) = A (YES!)

Biomechanics (352) = A (Sweet!)

Human Development (341) = A (duh!)

So, I didn't get straight A's like I did Winter Quarter, but it's close enough and I passed everything. It's a 3.5 for the quarter, I figured it's like getting two A's and two B's so it's not bad at all. If I get an A in Physics and the lab this summer, then I will be applying to grad school with a 3.678 (I currently have a 3.667). It's the damned GRE that weighs on my mind. UGH!

Anyway, last Friday was wonderful. I ended up going out with the Deans, Dan, Alex, and Christina. We hit up Brothers and then Gaswerks. Brothers was great. We got there early, before the rush at 11. I think we all have our fair share of drinks. Alex and his 151, me and Christina having fun with tequila, Katie and Dan with their beer and Theresa trying a little of everything. I hope we can do it again before the end of summer, though Katie will be in Alabama so she'll just have to join in spirit.

Once I start making money and I survive the bills that will be coming in soon, I'll let everyone know if it's time for another outing. Until then, I think the Treehouse will be satisfactory enough.

For now, I should probably go learn some big words for the GRE. It's really starting to piss me off because I don't see how this exam is supposed to "gauge how someone will do in their first year of grad school." I will never use the words they use on that test. My dad's a teacher and he said he couldn't even understand half of the words on there. Tree, wanna help me out on a quick way to learn new words? You know your english, maybe.

Keep Smiling! ~ Britt

Tuesday, June 06, 2006

Sooo...Dan and Shannon are no longer the only ones in our little group to be officially engaged! As of June 3, 2006, Michael J. and I are in the next phase of our relationship! Who would've thought that the girl who didn't want to be with the same boy for more than a month would end up getting engaged and actually be extremely excited about it!?!?! No set date yet....Oh yea, and my parents don't know yet either, so they'll find out when I return home with a diamond ring on my finger. Heart attacks waiting to happen? I hope not.

I have two finals before I hit the road. Both are tomorrow (Wednesday). My BIO212 exam is in the AM and my CHM213 exam is in the PM. I should be back in G-bitty before 5 PM. I'm not worried about my organic final because I need a 78% to maintain my A in the class. That's nothing. But, my BIO212 final is scaring the crap out of me. I only need a 55% to maintain my C (ouch!) but I never know how I do on those exams until I see my real score. I can study my ass of for that class and still get a D on an exam in there, it blows! So wish me luck, seeing as how I need it.

Today is also my last day at Miami Valley Hospital for at least a month and a half. I really like the therapists I've been working with and I'm going to miss them. I've talked to two of them and they were excited to hear that I want them to write my recommendation for OSU. So all my bases for recommendations are covered and it looks as though I will have 3 great recommendations for OSU. Hopefully that will help with my acceptance into the program.

Well, I should get going for now. I have a lot to do today: MVH hours, studying for BIO212 and CHM213, finish packing, studying for BIO212 till I pass out. UGH!

Smiling! A lot! (except when I think about molecular biology) ~ Britt

[edit:] FYI, news apparently spread like wildfire around Grove City. My parents found out and asked me about it when I called them. Message to Dan - you will be the first to get married. Me and MJ can't afford it so it may be a really long engagement, like at least a couple years, or until MJ becomes a cop. So as far as I can tell, it won't happen in summer '07. Theresa, you can calm your nerves. I just get to wear a pretty ring for a while.

Tuesday, May 16, 2006

I know I meant to post again after the Tim & Faith concert, but things have been really hectic around here lately. We're down to three weeks left and during those three weeks I'll be squeezing in 1 PSY341 exam, 1 EXB352 quiz, 1 EXB352 exam, 2 CHM213 exams (one is a final), 1 BIO212 exam (final), a 3-page PSY341 research paper and a 15-page Biomechanics paper. Fun stuff thar! NOT!

It's really not so bad. I'll get through it, knowing that this summer will at least sort of be summer-like. I'm already planning things with a few friends and hoping to get a lot of good hang-out time with certain people this summer before we truly all go our separate ways (jobs and grad schools). I'm gonna miss everyone who's leaving, again, but we'll keep in touch. I'm getting better at this whole IMing/Calling/Xanga-ing thing.

Nothing else is really new. Things at Miami Valley Hospital have been going well. I'm learning a lot and now I'm even able to give my grandmother pointers on how to strengthen her upper body to allow her to move around better using her upper body strength more since her legs are so bad. I am still nervous about whether or not I'll make it into OSU's PT grad school. You all know how much I want this. If I can't get in the year after I graduate from WSU, then I'll probably attend OSU for Athletic Training or try to get my masters in Sports Medicine and then try PT school the following year. I'll keep doing that till they finally accept me. Everyone says I'll be fine, yada yada yada...but it is a hard grad school to get in to, they only accept about 30-60 students per year and that's out of about 600-700 applicants.

Alright, well that's it for me. Just letting you all know that I will be back in GC starting on the evening of June 7th. I'll be around for a while, but from June 25th-30th and July 16th-23rd I'll be vacationing in Florida (with my family) and Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia (with MJ's family). Then on July 27th, I start my final 3-week Physics course at WSU. I'll be home every weekend during that time and I'll be done by Aug. 17th until the beginning of Fall Quarter '06. Be sure to give me a call and let me know if you want to hang out. It will be a busy summer for me, but I will make time.

Talk to some of you soon, I hope! Enjoy the beginning of your summer or good luck with the rest of your quarter! Love you all! MUAH!

Smiling...somehow! ~ Britt

P.S. Shannon, I feel your pain about Chris Daughtry. He was definitely my idol and his "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman" performance was one of the hottest things I'd seen in my entire life. He'll make a CD, no doubt. I've heard he has offers already, one of them being from Fuel. Exciting! If Taylor doesn't win now, I'm boycotting next year (maybe). hehe

Above is Chris Daughtry when he sang "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman". I'm obsessed with that performance. No really.

Bryan Adams knows what he's talking about too...

"To really love a woman, to understand her, you gotta know her deep inside. Hear every thought, see every dream, give her wings when she wants to fly. Then when you find yourself lying helpless in her arms, you'll know you really love a woman.

When you love a woman, you tell her that she's really wanted. When you love a woman you tell her that she's the one. 'Cause she needs somebody to tell her that it's gonna last forever. So tell me have you ever really, really, really ever loved a woman?

To really love a woman, let her hold you till you know how she needs to be touched. You've got to breather her, really taste her, till you can feel her in your blood. And when you can see your unborn children in her eyes, you'll know you really love a woman.

You've got to give her some faith, hold her tight, a little tenderness, you gotta treat her right. She will be there for you, taking good care of you. You really got to love your woman."

ONE WORD...DAMN! Talk about hot and bothered!?! Where do I get a man like this? MJ?

Tuesday, April 25, 2006

I think I just had one of the best weekend of my life. Or, at least a really good one, which hasn't happened to me in a while.

It started off on a bad note. I was really sick on Thursday. I won't go into detail as to why, let's just say that I will not be drinking or partying anytime in the near future (for at least the rest of this quarter). So, due to my sudden illness, I packed my bags and went home on Thursday because classes on Friday did not sound pleasing. I began to feel better later that night, so I ended up hanging out with MJ before Survivor and The O.C. came on.

The next day, I recieved a phone call from MJ. He was at work and his dad was telling him to tell me to be at their house at 6 PM that night. MJ had no idea what was going on and I was out of the loop (his dad didn't have my cell phone number), so in turn I had no clue what was going on either. That night, on the way to "our surprise," MJ and I began to guess where we were headed when suddenly we realized we were in downtown C-bus surrounded by decked out Country music fans. That's right, we were on our way to the opening of the Tim McGraw & Faith Hill Soul2Soul concert!

When we got into Nationwide Arena, we took a gander at the stage. It was a two level circular center stage with four arms. Two arms ran up and down into the ground level crowd and the other two arms ran side-to-side into the first tear of the lower bowl. I didn't even look at where we were going to sit because upon our entrance into the building, Mike Sr. let it slip that we were in section 206. Me, being the idiot that I am, believed him until we were looking at the stage. I looked at my ticket. What's this? Section 114 Row K? That's...That's....right where the stage runs to!!!

Walking to our seats, me and Lisa (Mike Sr.'s girlfriend...you may know her as Carly Barnick's mom) began to freak out as we realized we were only 7 rows back from the stage's arm!!! HOLY SCHNIKE! I've never been that close during a concert, EVER! This was friggin' awesome! Needless to say, it kicked ass and I definitely had the chance to rape Tim. I kept my cool though. I mean, seriously folks, my boyfriend was right beside me. heh

Well, the rest of the weekend was great too. I spent a lot of time with my mom and MJ. MJ actually turned 21 yesterday (the 24th), exactly six months after me. His birthday party was fun on Sunday and my parents and I took him to his favorite restaurant (Fuddrucker's) Saturday night. I love that boy with all my heart!

Below are three pictures from the concert. They didn't turn out amazing, but you can get an idea of how close we actually were. And there are more where these came from, but I can't load 49 pictures onto this site! Greedy people! heh
